A surgeon reshaping recovery after breast cancer

It isn’t hyperbole to say Dr. Roman Skoracki is a pioneer in his field.

An expert in breast reconstruction surgery, the director of the Stefanie Spielman Comprehensive Breast Center also has developed new methods to treat and prevent painful swelling caused by breast cancer treatment. He helped create surgeries that reroute lymphatic channels, such as transplanting lymph nodes from the abdomen to cancer-affected areas.

And patients love him. He’s been honored on patients’ favorites lists and has a 5 out of 5 rating from Press Ganey, which aggregates patient reviews from across the internet. 

When he was appointed director at the Spielman Center, his predecessor, Dr. William Farrar, called out his bedside manner. “Dr. Skoracki is an incredibly caring and talented surgeon. He is passionate about quality of life for his patients, and it shows in his care approach.”
